General Information
Call for Manuscripts
The International Journal of Anaplastology has been established by the American Anaplastology Association (AAA) whose profound belief is that a global peer reviewed journal, indexed by Medicus, is essential to the developmental status of Anaplastology as a profession. Manuscripts relating to Anaplastology are currently being submitted to a disparate group of overlapping medical journals. Thus, research data and advances in the field are mostly being missed by those who would benefit the most. The IJA serves as a medium for the accumulation of the knowledge of Anaplastology into one resource.
The Journal will be the standard size of 8.5. x 11. (21.5cm x 28cm), and will be printed in color and on high quality acid proof paper. It publishes twice per year with a content of approximately five to six articles per issue. The inaugural issue was published in September 2007.
Journal Mission
The International Journal of Anaplastology is sponsored by the American Anaplastology Association. The Association is dedicated to promoting quality patient care by supporting the development of best practices in anaplastology through educational conferences, networking, publication, and advocacy opportunities.
Journal Content
The International Journal of Anaplastology will publish (a) original articles in basic science and clinical practice, (b) editorial comment, (c) invited and volunteer commentary, (d) review articles, (e) case reports, (f) correspondence, (g) book reviews, (h) abstracts from relevant meetings, and (i) descriptions of technique/technology.

The requirements for manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Anaplastology must conform to the “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals,” established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (JAMA 1993;269:2282.6). Review Process
- Manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Anaplastology must be sent to the managing Editor via megaupload.com, the secure file sharing service of the International Journal of Anaplastology at: .
- Once appraised for fundamental requirements, manuscripts will be sent to the Editor-in-Chief, Jerry Schoendorf. The manuscript will be then distributed to a section editor.
- The author’s name will be removed from the paper.
- The section editor will select two editorial peer review experts to review the paper. If a section editor feels there is not an appropriate expert for a particular paper, the paper will be reviewed by an expert from outside the review board.
The review will take place according to the guidelines set out by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. The section editor will be responsible for liaising with the author and then returning the edited paper to the Editor-in-Chief with recommendations.
The Editor-in-Chief has final authority to determine the editorial content of the journal.
Please consider drafting a manuscript for submission. If assistance in drafting a manuscript is required for first time authors, our Journal mentor, Todd Kubon, is available for assistance. This assistance is funded by a grant provided by the Vesalius Trust.
Todd Kubon can be contacted at Toronto-Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Center on 416.480.4254 or at .
The AAA believes the publication of its journal is of paramount importance in fulfilling its mission to promote quality patient care by supporting the development of best practices in anaplastology through educaitonal conferences, networking, publication, and advocacy opportunities.
Sincerely,
Editorial Board,
International Journal of Anaplastology
